What exactly can it happen? Social networks as vehicles attacks

The social networking platforms are targeted by cybercriminals
Because millions of contacts, email addresses, photographs and other
sensitive data they contain. Indeed, social networks encourage
users to make public the maximum of personal data
since the default setting of privacy is "Public".
The fact that sensitive data can easily be transferred
the cloud of the social network to that of third parties make their flight easy.
Often a legitimate application, which does exactly what
indicated by its description, is used as a perfect tool for stealing
personal data. For example, an apparently playful application
harmless, promising the user to inform him that his
name reveals his character, seeking multiple permissions and tagged
Illegally all friends of the user.
In this case, the possibility of tagged ensures a wide audience for this
scam and can pave the way to the theft of any personal data of
people involved. E-mail address can become in itself a
source of profit in the market spam.
This scam can spread from an impressive
members of social networks. A good example is the scam "View
who has viewed your profile ", which promises to tell the victim how
people have viewed their profile. According to data compiled by
Bitdefender safego, this scam has averaged 286 unique URLs
Wave, 14 unique Facebook applications, 1,411,743 clicks and collected
peak distribution of each URL reached after 34 hours.
